Police investigate terrifying Preston assault

Police are searching for a man following an assault in Preston on 27 March.

It is believed the 32-year-old victim was followed after getting off a tram at the intersection of Bell Street and Plenty Road about 11.22pm.

The victim was walking through a car park when an unknown man began yelling at him before chasing him around the car park.

The unknown man assaulted the victim knocking him unconsciousness before continuing to strike the victim.

The man then appears to taunt the victim as he lies on the ground.

Investigators have released images and CCTV footage of a man they believe can assist with their enquiries.

The man police wish to speak to is perceived as being aged in his early 30s with a slim build and appears to be balding with short dark hair and a dark beard.

At the time he was wearing a t-shirt with a white motif along the front and knee length cargo shorts. He was carrying a large backpack.
