Police investigate two public place shootings at Nowra

An investigation is underway following two public place shootings in Nowra at the weekend.

Shortly after 2am Saturday (2 November 2019), a shot was allegedly fired into a home on Anatares Close, East Nowra.

Police believe three men were home at the time of the alleged shooting, with a shot gun round shattering glass above where a man was lying on a lounge.

Officers attached to South Coast Police District attended the scene and seized a number of items for forensic examination, including wadding from a firearm.

About 3am Saturday (2 November 2019), a man arrived at a property on Peniston Avenue, Nowra and allegedly found his house had been damaged by shot gun pellets.

Police believe two shots were fired into the man's house between 12.30am and 2am Saturday (2 November 2019) and are calling for anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious around that time to contact police.

Police believe the two alleged shootings may be linked.

South Coast Police District Commander, Superintendent Greg Moore said this kind of behaviour will not be tolerated in the South Coast community.

"We have had two separate incidents in the space of a few hours where firearms have been discharged in residential areas," Superintendent Moore said.

"This is a real concern for police, and there lies a real possibility that innocent people can suffer significant harm from this type of reckless and dangerous act.

"This kind of behaviour won't be tolerated, and anyone who chooses to engage in these reckless acts will face the full brunt of the law."

"Rest assured our officers are working hard and following several lines of inquiry to resolve this matter."

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact Nowra Police on (02) 4421 9699 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
