Police investigating after man stabbed during fight - North Albury

An investigation is underway after a man was stabbed at a home at North Albury overnight.

Emergency services were called to a home on Bank Street about 5.50pm (Thursday 19 January 2023), and found a 19-year-old man with stab wounds to his chest.

He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Albury Base Hospital where he underwent surgery. Police have been told the man's condition is now stable.

Officers from Murray River Police District attended and established a crime scene where a knife was seized at the home for forensic examination.

Investigators have been told the man was stabbed during a fight with another man who left the scene. The men are known to each other.

Officers are now looking for a 24-year-old man they believe can assist with their inquiries.
