An investigation is underway following a serious crash near Taree this morning.
About 10.05am (Wednesday 27 August 2025), emergency services were called to Wingham Road at Wingham following reports of a crash.
At the scene, police were told four vehicles were involved in the crash, including three cars and a truck.
A 72-year-old male driver was taken to Taree Airport where he was airlifted to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition.
A 22-year-old male driver was taken to Port Macquarie Base Hospital for the treatment of minor injuries and to undergo mandatory testing.
A 36-year-old male driver of the truck was taken to Manning Base Hospital for the treatment of shock and further assessment.
The fourth driver, a 62-year-old man, did not report any injuries to police.
Officers attached to Manning/Great Lakes Police District and the Crash Investigation Unit established a crime scene and will investigate the incident.
