Police investigating after woman stabbed at Newtown

Police are appealing for information after a woman was stabbed in Sydney's inner west overnight.

Officers have been told the 41-year-old woman was stabbed during a verbal altercation on Alice Street, Newtown, about 1am (Sunday 6 September).

A short time later, emergency services were called to the location, where they found the woman suffering a stab wound to her torso, about 1.30am (Sunday 6 September).

She was treated on scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a serious but stable condition.

Officers from Inner West Police Area Command commenced an investigation.

Three teenagers, two males and a female, are assisting police with their inquiries.
