$30.5 million roads package fast-tracking flood recovery, complementing the $100 million Flood Recovery Fund to rebuild critical infrastructure and restore access across the Territory.
Communities reconnecting and recovery underway, with residents returning to Palumpa today.
Supporting regional economies and long-term resilience, ensuring reliable access for tourism, agriculture, mining, and emergency services while building a stronger road network for the future.
The Finocchiaro CLP Government is delivering an urgent $30.5 million roads repair package to rebuild key infrastructure damaged by recent flooding, building on major recovery efforts already underway across the Territory.
The package complements the $100 million Flood Recovery Fund, with the Department of Logistics and Infrastructure fast-tracking critical repairs to restore access, reconnect communities, and support key industries such as tourism, agriculture, and mining.
Chief Minister Lia Finocchiaro said getting people back home is a top priority, with urgent work underway in Nauiyu and Palumpa.
"We know residents are keen to return to their communities and homes, and we're working to make that happen as quickly as possible," Mrs Finocchiaro said.
"Some homes in Palumpa are ready and safe, and today the first group of residents will return home.
"On Friday, I visited Nauiyu to see the impacts firsthand. It's not an overnight fix and we have a long way to go, but it will get done."
Local contractor Colemans Contracting has been engaged, with graders on their way to Wooliana Road this week. Contractors, NT Repairs and Painting, have also begun work on the health clinic. The police station has been repainted, and services have been reconnected as recovery continues.
Mrs Finocchiaro said providing certainty to tourism operators, communities, and emergency services that require year-round access is essential.
"These roads are vital to our regional economies, supporting industries such as fishing, cattle, and tourism across the Territory," she said.
"It's about reconnecting communities, restoring access, and supporting the industries that keep the Territory moving.
"By delivering these works quickly, we're helping Territorians get back on their feet while building a stronger, more resilient road network for the future."
