Police investigating deliberately lit house fire at George Town

Police are investigating a deliberately lit house fire on Agnes Street in George Town last night.

Tasmania Fire Service received numerous calls shortly after 6:30pm and quickly arrived on scene to find the front bedroom of the house well alight.

The fire was extinguished quickly but significant fire and smoke damage was caused throughout the house.

Tasmania Police Forensic Services and a Tasmania Fire Service Fire Investigator attended and examined the scene this morning.

Damage to the unoccupied house is estimated to be in excess of $150,000.
