Police investigating Serious Crash on South Arm Road at Sandford

Police are investigating a serious crash on South Arm Road at Sandford around 3.15pm yesterday.

A 61-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman both from the Eastern Shore were transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital with serious injuries.

The crash occurred when a north-bound grey Holden Commodore utility failed to negotiate a right-hand curve in the road and collided with a raised drainage culvert and vegetation bank on the opposite side of the road. The Commodore rolled several times before coming to rest on its wheels.

Police and emergency services attended the scene.

A Crash Investigation is ongoing into factors relating to the cause of the crash. The use of alcohol or drugs are not suspected.

South Arm Road at the location of the crash was closed for four hours whilst investigations were carried out. Police would like to thank motorists for their patience while traffic diversions were in place.
