Police investigating wounding at Helensvale

Detectives have declared a crime-scene behind a business in Helensvale after a 19-year-old man suffered serious injuries to his arm.

Initial investigations indicate at about 6.20pm the man was standing in a car park on Sir John Overall Drive when he suffered injuries consistent with a gun-shot wound, causing non-life-threatening injuries.

He was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital where detectives are in attendance.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the man in the car park or a white Nissan Qashqai hatch in the area at the time, to contact them.

Investigators are also appealing for CCTV footage or to anyone who may have relevant dash camera footage to come forward.

Officers believe there is not an imminent danger to the public.

Investigations are ongoing.
