Police investigation into woman's death continues

Police are continuing their inquiries in relation to the location of a woman's body in water near the Derwent Entertainment Centre yesterday morning.

"There is nothing to indicate anything suspicious at this stage, however, investigations are ongoing and we will look at all the evidence. An important part of doing this is to confirm the deceased woman's identity," said Senior Sergeant Ian Mathewson.

"What we know so far is that she's a woman in her 60s-80s, of medium build with greying blonde hair, light blue eyes wearing light green woollen jumper, dark green t-shirt, grey trousers and slip on shoes.

The woman wasn't carrying any form of identification, however, she was wearing three pieces of jewellery which police have released to help identify her.

These are a black leather watch with a gold face, silver chain with silver pendant containing a purple stone, and silver ring with white stones.

If you recognise these pieces of jewellery or know anyone who may be missing that fits the description, please contact Glenorchy Police on 131444 or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or crimestopperstas.com.au
