Police launch investigation into suspicious house fires at Albury

An investigation is underway after two homes were damaged by fire in Albury overnight.

About 9.45pm (Sunday 31 July 2022), emergency services were called to Alexandra Street, East Albury, following reports of a fire.

NSW Fire and Rescue attended and found the house and extinguished the blaze, with significant damage to the veranda and front room.

No one was inside at the time and there are no reports of injuries.

A short time later, smoke was seen coming from a nearby home, also on Alexandra Street, that had previously been damaged by fire in June.

An investigation into both incidents – as well as the previous blaze in June – has commenced by officers attached to Murray River Police District.

Police are treating all fires as suspicious and are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time – including residents with CCTV or dashcam vision – or anyone who noticed suspicious activity, to call Albury Police on 6023 9299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
