Police have charged a man following investigations into the assault of a girl at Coolangatta yesterday, 4 December.
Just before 9am, a 12-year-old girl was walking along a pedestrian path in the vicinity of Miles Street when a man, who was not known to her, allegedly grabbed her around the shoulders before releasing her and fleeing on foot.
The girl received some bruising during the incident.
Police commenced patrols of the surrounding area and at around 10.15am located a 21-year-old man at Kirra, taking him into police custody.
The 21-year-old Tweed Heads West man has been charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm.
He is due to appear at Coolangatta Magistrates Court on 12 January.
Investigations remain ongoing.
