Police Lay Assault Charges At South Brisbane 10 December

Police have charged a 37-year-old man following a number of incidents across South Brisbane, Oxley and Fig Tree Pocket last night, 9 December.

It will be alleged about 8.45pm, the 37-year-old approached a man on Merrivale Street, South Brisbane and struck the man in the head with an object before fleeing.

Around 9pm, police will allege the man approached two women outside an address on Cordelia Street, before following them into a building and attempted to strike them with an object and assault them.

The man attended a carpark on Merivale Street just after 9.10pm and allegedly approached a man before demanding his car keys.

The 37-year-old allegedly fled in the victim's Toyota Corolla before crashing the vehicle on the Centenary Motorway, Fig Tree Pocket.

It will be further alleged, the man approached a Suzuki Vitara and demanded the female driver and sole occupant exit the vehicle.

The driver has attempted to drive off before the man has allegedly entered the back of the vehicle and verbally threatened and assaulted the woman before she exited the vehicle, and the 37-year-old fled in the vehicle.

At 12.50am police intercepted the alleged stolen Suzuki on the Warrego Highway and arrested the man.

A 37-year-old Kingston man has been charged with three counts of robbery armed/ used personal violence, two counts each of enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence, dangerous operation of a vehicle, assaults occasioning bodily harm whilst armed, wilful damage and one count each of sexual assaults, stealing, and serious assault person over 60.

The man's bail was refused, and he is expected to appear before Brisbane Magistrates Court today, 10 December.
