Police lay assault charges at Thuringowa

Detectives have charged four men after another man was assaulted and stabbed in a carpark in Townsville this afternoon.

It will be alleged at 12.20pm a 39-year-old Thuringowa man was seated in his parked car off Hervey's Range Road when a Commodore containing the men smashed into the driver's side door.

The men began punching and kicking the man whilst he was seated in the car before one of the men stabbed him twice in the upper back. The men then fled the scene in the Commodore.

A witness recorded the registration of the Commodore and police located four men a short time later at a Kelso address.

It is believed the men are all known to each other.

The victim was transport to the Townsville University Hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

A 20-year-old man and a 21-year-old man, both from Mount Low, a 22-year-old Bushland Beach man and a 23-year-old Burpengary man have all been charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.

They will all appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on Tuesday, March 23.

Investigations are continuing.
