Police lay charges after Carrum Downs explosion

Detectives from the Arson and Explosives Squad have charged a teenage boy following an alleged explosion in Carrum Downs in August.

The 17-year-old from Carrum Downs has been changed with six counts of explosive related offences regarding the incident which is alleged to have occurred at a reserve on Hillview Drive about 5pm on 28 August.

He has been bailed to appear at a Children's court at a later date.

A 16-year-old Seaford girl who was also arrested this morning following a number of search warrants at residential properties in Carrum Downs and Seaford, has been released pending further enquiries.

It is alleged the device was propelled into the sky before it crashed into the roof of a nearby home about 150 metres away.

Two occupants who were home at the time, were not physically injured.
