Police lay charges after drugs, cash located - Canley Vale

A man will appear in court today after police allegedly located prohibited drugs in his vehicle in Sydney's west yesterday.

About 4.25pm (Saturday 22 August 2020), officers attached to South West Police Transport Command were patrolling the Canley Vale area, when they observed a Toyota Hilux on Carcoola Street.

The Toyota reversed to avoid police before the driver got out. He was allegedly seen throwing items into the vehicle before running away.

Following a short foot pursuit, the driver, a 31-year-old man, was arrested in the foyer of a unit block on Carcoola Street.

Upon searching the man and the Toyota, police allegedly located $1,275 in cash, a large bag containing cannabis concealed under the vehicle panelling, additional bags of cannabis in the centre console, two hand sanitiser bottles of liquid believed to contain GHB, and MDMA.

The Liverpool man was taken to Fairfield Police Station where he was charged with:

  • Take part supply prohibited drug
  • Take part supply prohibited drug (indictable)
  • Possess prohibited drug (x3)
  • Possess suspected proceeds, money/property
  • Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen (not motor vehicle)

He has been refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court today (Sunday 23 August 2020).
