Police lay charges after fatal brawl at Royal Easter Show

A teenager will appear in court charged over his alleged involvement in a brawl at the Royal Easter Show last night.

Emergency services responded to the carnival ride section about 8pm (Monday 11 April 2022), following reports of a brawl.

Officers found two boys, aged 16 and 17, suffering stab wounds, one critically injured.

Police rendered first aid until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived and treated them at the scene.

Both were taken to Westmead Hospital; however, the older boy died on route while the younger boy remains in hospital, receiving treatment.

A 15-year-old boy was arrested nearby a short time later. At the time he was allegedly in possession of a knife.

He was taken to Auburn Police Station and charged with affray, armed with intent to commit indictable offence, and custody of knife in public place.

The teen was refused bail to appear at a children's court today (Tuesday 12 April 2022).

An investigation into the incident continues and police are appealing for anyone with information or vision of the incident, to come forward and contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
