Police lay charges after fatal crash in Point Cook

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives have charged a man following a fatal crash in Point Cook on 2 March.

It is alleged a car was observed driving erratically on the Princess Freeway about 1pm.

Police attempted to intercept the vehicle, before it sped away.

The car crashed into a barrier on Forsyth Road shortly afterwards and the female passenger died at the scene.

The driver, a 35-year-old Wyndham Vale man, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries under police guard.

He has today been charged with multiple offences including culpable driving and dangerous driving causing death.

He has been remanded to appear in Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 31 May.
