Police lay charges after hit-run in Chelsea

Police have charged a Parkdale man following a hit-run in Chelsea this morning.

It is alleged a utility struck a cyclist on the Nepean Highway near Chelsea Road about 5.40am.

The cyclist, a 50-year-old Chelsea woman, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where she remains in a critical condition.

The alleged driver was arrested in Broadmeadows this morning and the car was located in Seaford about 8.15am.

The 28-year-old has been charged with dangerous driving causing serious injury and failing to render assistance.

He appeared in an out of session's court hearing this evening.
