Police lay charges after home invasion earlier this year - Monaro

Four people – two men and two women – have been charged following an investigation into a home invasion in the state's south earlier this year.

About 11.15pm on Friday 2 April 2021, a man and woman entered a home on Sharp Street, Cooma, and confronted the occupants, a man, aged 47, and a woman, aged 35.

The unknown man produced a firearm and threatened the occupants before a scuffle broke out and a shot was fired into the ceiling.

The armed man and woman fled the scene in a grey utility prior to police arrival. There were no reports of physical injuries.

Officers attached to Monaro Police District attended and established a crime scene.

Detectives commenced an investigation under Strike Force Davesta.

Following inquiries, a 39-year-old man was arrested at a house in Neeworra Street, Cooma, about 9.10am yesterday (Friday 6 August 2021).

A subsequent search of the premises located a quantity of illicit drugs.

The man was taken to Cooma Police station and charged with being an accessary before a specially aggravated enter dwelling with intent – dangerous weapon.

He was refused bail and will appear at Queanbeyan Local Court on Monday (9 August 2021).

About 5.50pm, a 41-year-old woman was arrested at a house in Woolalla Street, Cooma. She was taken to Cooma Police Station and charged with conceal serious indictable offence of other.

The woman was given conditional bail and will appear at Cooma Local Court on Wednesday 22 September 2021.

In addition, a 33-year-old Dubbo man, who was in custody for other offences, was charged with specially aggravated enter dwelling with intent – dangerous weapon, fire firearm manner likely injure persons/property, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, and drive motor vehicle during disqualification period.

A 31-year-old Dubbo woman, also in custody for other offences, was charged with specially aggravated enter dwelling with intent – dangerous weapon and be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.

They will both appear at Goulburn Local Court on Wednesday 25 August 2021.
