Police Lay Charges After Home Invasion In St Albans

Brimbank Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged three people following a home invasion in St Albans overnight.

Officers responded to reports of five offenders, armed with machetes, forcing entry to a property on Atheldene Drive about 11.55pm.

Whilst inside the property it's alleged the offenders demanded cash from a man and a woman home at the time.

The man and the woman were both assaulted.

Both victims were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

An 18-year-old Hoppers Crossing Man has been charged with aggravated home invasion, intentionally cause injury, recklessly cause injury, common law assault, theft, possess controlled weapon and state false name to police.

He was remanded in custody to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 3 May.

A 17-year-old Werribee boy has been charged with aggravated home invasion, intentionally cause injury, recklessly cause injury, theft, and possess controlled weapon.

He was remanded in custody to appear at a children's court at a later date.

A 15-year-old Werribee boy has been charged with aggravated home invasion, intentionally cause injury, recklessly cause injury, theft, and possess controlled weapon.

He was remanded in custody to appear at a children's court at a later date.

The other offenders remain outstanding, and the investigation remains ongoing.
