Police lay charges after man stabbed - Matraville

A man will appear in court today after allegedly stabbing another man in Matraville yesterday.

Emergency services were called to Anzac Parade about 4pm yesterday (Saturday 23 March 2019) where they found a man with stab wounds to his back.

Police have been told the man was allegedly stabbed with a screwdriver by another man not known to him, who then fled the scene.

The 50-year-old Maroubra man was taken to St Vincent's Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command established a crime scene and commenced investigations.

Shortly before 6.30pm (Saturday 23 March 2019) police attended a home address in Maroubra and arrested a 27-year-old man.

He was taken to Maroubra Police Station where he was charged with wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm

The Maroubra man was refused bail to appear at Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 24 March 2019).
