Police lay charges after public place shooting at Blacktown

A man has been charged following a public place shooting in Blacktown earlier in the week.

About 9.20pm on Wednesday (18 December 2019), an altercation allegedly occurred between a group of people at a hotel Sackville Street, Lalor Park.

The group left the hotel in two separate vehicles, a Toyota Camry and a Toyota Magna.

As the vehicles approached a roundabout on Stephen Street, its alleged shots were fired from the Magna towards the occupants of the Camry.

One projectile hit the rear of the Camry, fortunately none of the three occupants were injured.

The Magna, being driven by a man, fled the area prior to police arrival.

Officers from Blacktown Police Area Command commenced an investigation into the incident and following inquiries, attended an address on Lucas Road, Seven Hills yesterday (Thursday 19 December 2019).

Following a search of the property, police located and seized spent .308 cartridges, a .22 calibre round, methylamphetamine and documentation.

A 44-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Blacktown Police Station where he was charged with discharge firearm intend cause grievous bodily harm, fire firearm manner likely injure person, possess prohibited drug, possess identity info to commit indictable offence, possess ammunition w/o holding licence/permit and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The man was refused bail and is due to appear before Blacktown Local Court today (Friday 20 December 2019).
