Police lay charges after Sale aggravated burglary

Wellington Crime Investigation Unit detectives have charged four teenagers and one man following an alleged aggravated burglary in Sale last week.

The four boys and one man were charged with aggravated home invasion, armed robbery, false imprisonment and going equipped to steal.

A 34-year-old Sale man was charged and remanded to appear before the Bairnsdale Magistrates' Court this afternoon.

The four teenagers, a 12-year-old from Moe, a 14-year-old from Sale and a 15 and 16-year-old from Bairnsdale were each charged and bailed to appear at a children's court at a later date.

The charges come following an alleged aggravated burglary about 9.30pm on Sunday 24 January which saw the boys and the man approach a 65-year-old Sale man in the backyard of his Marley Street home.

It is alleged all five were brandishing weapons and directed the victim inside his house before making demands for cash and his car keys.

The victim's vehicle was stolen from the address and later recovered in Lakes Entrance following an alleged pursuit with police about 2am on 25 January.

The boys and the man were arrested a short time later.
