Police lay charges after stabbing - Hunter Valley

A man will face court today charged over the alleged stabbing of another man in the Hunter region.

About 11pm on Friday (27 August 2021), two men – known to each other – were involved in a physical altercation outside a home on Lockwood Street, Huntlee.

A short time later, one of the men, aged 24, discovered he had been stabbed in his side. He was then driven to Cessnock Hospital by a woman, known to him, before being transferred to John Hunter Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Officers from Hunter Valley Police District were notified and commenced an investigation.

Following inquiries, a 19-year-old man was arrested at Cessnock Police Station just before 7pm yesterday (Saturday 28 August 2021).

He was charged with reckless wounding (DV) and armed with intent cause indictable offence.

The man was refused bail to appear at Newcastle Bail Court today (Sunday 29 August 2021).
