Police lay charges after teenage girl falls from moving car

Two men have been charged after a teenage girl fell from the roof of a car and received critical injuries in Altona on Monday night.

A 21-year-old Braybrook man was arrested in Altona on Tuesday afternoon and later charged with:

• dangerous driving causing serious injury

• recklessly cause serious injury

• recklessly cause injury

• reckless conduct endanger serious injury

• accident - fail to assist - serious injury

• fail report to police if person injured

• learner driver drive without appropriate supervising driver

A 21-year-old Caroline Springs man presented to a police station and was later charged with reckless conduct endanger serious injury and drive in a manner dangerous.

Both men were bailed to appear before Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 30 January 2023.

A 20-year-old Sunshine man also presented a police station on Tuesday afternoon and was interviewed by detectives.

He is expected to be charged on summons with traffic offences.

The charges follow an incident in the vicinity of The Esplanade and Davies Street, where it's alleged four women fell from the roof of a moving car about 11.30pm on Monday 31 October.

A 17-year-old Melton South woman remains in hospital with critical injuries.

Another teenager, aged 17 from Wyndham Vale, later presented at hospital with injuries from the incident and received treatment.

Two other young women, believed to be sitting on the roof at the time, were not injured and have spoken to police.
