Police lay charges after Werribee pursuit

Two teenagers have been charged following two armed robberies and a pursuit in Werribee this morning.

It's alleged two offenders armed with a machete entered a business on Watton Street in Werribee just after 9am.

It is believed they demanded cash, which was handed over and fled the scene in a stolen vehicle.

A short time later the same offenders attended a business on Cottrell Street and one male entered the store armed with the machete.

Cash and alcohol were stolen.

The offenders then fled the scene in the stolen grey Hyundai hatch and a pursuit was initiated.

The vehicle was pursued through Werribee and terminated on the Princes Freeway near Duncans Road in Werribee.

The offenders then lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a pole on Ascot Vale Road in Moonee Ponds just before 10.30am.

Two teenage boys and a 20-year-old man were arrested.

An 18-year-old Kings Park man has been charged with armed robbery, theft of motor vehicle, commit indictable offence whilst on bail and contravene conduct condition of bail.

A 19-year-old Tarneit has been charged with armed robbery, theft of motor vehicle, learner driver unaccompanied, drive in a manner dangerous, conduct endangering life and multiple other driving charges.

One offender, a 16-year-old Wyndham Vale male, was taken to hospital where he remains under police guard.
