Police lay charges after Westmeadows carjacking

Police have charged two youths following an alleged carjacking in Westmeadows yesterday morning.

Investigators have been told three youths booked a ride share vehicle from Tullamarine to an address in Westmeadows about 12.45am on Thursday.

The driver pulled over in Ripplebrook Drive to let the occupants out and was allegedly assaulted by two of the youths.

A 15-year-old Airport West boy was charged with aggravated carjacking, intentionally cause injury, theft of motor vehicle, make threats to kill and reckless conduct endanger serious injury.

He was remanded to appear before a children's court at a later date.

A 16-year-old boy from Gladstone Park was charged with aggravated carjacking, intentionally cause injury, theft of motor vehicle and make threats to kill.

He was bailed to appear before a children's court at a later date.

The third occupant is yet to be identified but is believed to have left the vehicle before the car arrived in Maribyrnong.
