Police lay charges - Aggravated Assault in Alice Springs 2 December

Northern Territory Police have charged a woman in relation to an aggravated assault in Alice Springs yesterday.

In the early hours of Thursday morning, an altercation occurred between a 38-year-old woman and 23-year-old male, who are known to each other, at a town camp in Alice Springs. The woman allegedly assaulted the man with an edged weapon, causing a laceration to his back.

He was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital in a stable condition.

The woman was also conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment of an unrelated condition. Detectives from the Alice Springs Criminal Investigation Branch have since charged her with:

  • 1 x Aggravated assault
  • 1 x Recklessly endanger serious harm
  • 1 x Armed with an offensive weapon

She was bailed to appear in Alice Springs Local Court on 13 December 2022.

Detective Sergeant David Munro said "Investigations into the assault remain ongoing."
