Police lay charges - Aggravated assault in Darwin 23 March

Major Crash Investigation Unit detectives and Firearms Unit officers have charged a 62-year-old man in relation to a number of alleged historical domestic violence offences.

The man is alleged to have committed a number of violent acts against his female partner. One of the alleged incidents involved the male aiming a firearm at the victim while threatening her.

Police arrested the man on Wednesday afternoon and conducted a search at a residence he was linked to, where twelve registered firearms were seized.

He has since been charged with three counts of aggravated assault, threats to kill and criminal damage.

The man was bailed to appear at Darwin Local Court on 11 April 2023.
