Police lay charges - Aggravated assault in Katherine 17 June

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 24-year-old man in relation to two separate aggravated assaults.

At about 12:00pm yesterday, the man allegedly punched a 33-year-old man to the face at a Katherine licensed premises. He was arrested by police shortly after.

The man was also arrested in relation to another incident that occurred at a shopping centre in Darwin CBD. At about 3:00pm on Wednesday 11 March 2020, a 27-year-old male security guard recognised the man from an earlier theft. The security guard attempted to stop the man from leaving which resulted in the man punching the security guard to the face and fleeing the scene.

The 24-year-old been charged with:

  • aggravated assault
  • assault a worker - victim suffers harm.

He is scheduled to appear before Katherine Local Court today.
