Police lay charges - Aggravated robbery - Nightcliff

Serious Crime Squad detectives have arrested two people and summonsed another in relation to the robbery of a taxi driver in October.

A taxi driver arrived at a Karama residence to pick up the trio around 1:00am on Sunday, 6 October. The group had pre-paid a twenty dollar trip to Casuarina however changed their mind when the taxi driver arrived and requested to be conveyed to Nightcliff. The difference in fare was two dollars however the group demanded the whole fare back from the taxi driver.

They then assaulted the taxi driver and stole his bag which contained a cash float and other property. An 18-year-old female also stole other property from the taxi during the assault.

A 19-year-old male presented himself to Casuarina Police Station on 26 October. He was summonsed to court to face charges of criminal damage and aggravated robbery. He is due to appear in Darwin Local Court on 11 December 2019.

The 18-year-old female and a 23-year-old male were arrested in Nightcliff on 2 December and were charged with criminal damage and aggravated robbery.

The female is due to appear in Darwin Local Court today. The 23-year-old male is due to appear in Darwin Local Court on 11 December 2019.
