Police lay charges - Arson, Criminal Damage and Drug Offences

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 19-year-old male in relation to alleged arson, criminal damage and drug offences in Fannie Bay and Driver.

On 1 January 2020, police responded to a report of a vehicle on fire at East Point Reserve. Upon arrival, the vehicle was engulfed in flames requiring NTFRS to attend and extinguish the fire. No persons were injured as a result of this incident.

On 2 December 2020, Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad and Drug and Organised Crime Squad executed a search warrant at an address in Driver.

Detectives seized numerous items during the search warrant, including;

  • 152 grams of cannabis
  • A Taser torch
  • Digital scales
  • A cannabis grinder
  • Mobile phones
  • An ice pipe

At the completion of the search warrant the 19-year-old male was arrested and later charged with:

1 x Arson;

1 x Damage to property;

1 x Stealing;

1 x Supply less than commercial quantity of schedule 2 drug;

1 x Possess trafficable quantity of schedule 2 drug;

1 x Possess a prohibited weapon;

1 x Administer a dangerous drug to self; and

1 x breach of bail.

The male was remanded in custody until 3 January, 2020.
