Northern Territory Police have charged two men, aged 23 and 29, in relation to an alleged aggravated assault that occurred in a remote community on Saturday morning.
At around 2:20am, police received information that a 33-year-old woman had allegedly been assaulted and suffered serious injuries to her head.
It is alleged that the two men had unlawfully entered the woman's residence before assaulting her. A neighbour attempted to assist the woman, when he was also assaulted and knocked unconscious.
Upon arrival at the scene, the alleged offenders had already departed. Police conducted a search throughout the community and arrested the two men.
The two victims were medically assessed with the woman being conveyed to the hospital and has since been released.
The 23-year-old was charged with:
- aggravated assault
- aggravated unlawful entry
- criminal damage
- going armed in public
The 29-year-old was charged with:
- attempt murder
- aggravated assault
- aggravated unlawful entry
- criminal damage
- going armed in public
They have been bailed to appear in the Darwin Local Court on 9 February 2021.
