Police lay charges - Crime Spree in Darwin

Northern Territory Police have arrested and charged a youth in relation to a number of offences committed around Darwin this month.

The 15-year-old male was arrested yesterday in a joint operation between Strike Force Trident detectives and members from the Dog Operations Unit.

In total 12 matters relating to the youth were investigated by Strike Force Trident, including assaults, shop stealing, criminal damage incidents, unlawful entries, fraudulent uses of stolen credit cards taken from either cars or unlawful entries as well as two bag snatches.

He was charged with:

  • 1 x Aggravated assault
  • 1 x Engage in violent conduct
  • 5 x Damage to property
  • 4 x Trespass on premises
  • 5 x Obtain benefit by deception
  • 1 x Aggravated unlawful entry
  • 1 x Aggravated unlawful use of motor vehicle
  • 5 x Stealing
  • 1 x Disorderly behaviour in a public place

He was remanded and is due to face court today.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said, "The extent of these charges is incredibly disappointing, NT Police will continue to work tirelessly to protect our community."
