Police lay charges - Disturbances - Victoria River Region

Police investigations into a series of disturbances at a remote community in the Victoria River Region continue.

A number of people have been arrested in relation to three separate but related incidents.

A 56-year-old man has been issued a Notice to Appear to face charges of Assault Worker and Property Damage.

A 47-year-old man has been issued a Notice to Appear in relation to damaging a vehicle.

A 17-year-old youth will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act for allegedly stealing a motorcycle.

Superintendent Kirk Pennuto said, "We are still making enquiries into other alleged offences, including an unlawful entry, damage to property, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and the alleged discharge of a firearm.

"There have been no further serious incidents in the community and police are working closely with traditional owners and the broader community to keep it that way."
