The Northern Territory Police Force has arrested and charged a 20-year-old male in relation to a domestic violence aggravated assault that occurred on Sunday evening in Alice Springs.
Around 11:50pm, the Joint Emergency Services Communication Centre received a report that a female had been physically assaulted by a male known to her at a residence in Gillen.
Police attended and arrested the 20-year-old male at the scene.
The victim was pregnant at the time of the assault and was conveyed to hospital for treatment.
The offender has since been charged with:
- Engage in conduct that contravenes DVO
- Aggravated Assault
- Damage to property
- Choking, strangling or suffocating
He has been remanded in custody to appear in Darwin Local Court on 20 February.
