Police Lay Charges - Domestic Violence In Alice Springs 14 July

A 36-year-old male has been arrested and charged following a domestic violence related assault that occurred in Alice Springs yesterday evening.

Around 6:25pm, police received reports of an assault occurring at an address south of the Gap. Police attended and located a female victim aged in her 20s who was conveyed to hospital for treatment for a broken arm and lacerations to her head.

The victim's partner was arrested at the scene. He has since been charged with Unlawfully Cause Serious Harm and Engaging in Conduct that Contravene a DVO and was remanded to appear in the Alice Springs Local Court tomorrow.

Acting Senior Sergeant Michael Court said, "Domestic and family violence has devastating consequences for victims, families, and the wider community.

"Police will continue to hold offenders accountable and encourage anyone experiencing violence to seek help and report it to police."
