Police lay charges - Domestic Violence in Alice Springs 13 September

Northern Territory Police have charged a man in relation to an assault in Alice Springs on the weekend.

On the afternoon of 11 September, a 35-year-old male allegedly assaulted his 31-year-old female partner with a blunt weapon at a residence on Echunpa Street.

The woman was conveyed to Alice Springs Hospital with serious injuries where she currently remains.

The 35-year-old was arrested yesterday and has since been charged by detectives from the Alice Springs Criminal Investigation Branch with:

  • Unlawfully cause serious harm
  • Armed with an offensive weapon

He was remanded to appear in Alice Springs Local Court today.

Detective Acting Sergeant Christopher Ship said, "This was a traumatic ordeal for victim, domestic violence in any of its forms is never ok. The Alice Springs CIB will continue to target repeat and high-risk offenders as a priority and bring them before the courts.
