Police lay charges - Drunk driver at Pine Creek

Northern Territory Police have charged a 45-year-old woman with drink-driving offences in Pine Creek.

On Wednesday 3 February 2021, police were travelling towards Pine Creek when they observed a grey Holden Commodore driving 60km/h in a 130km/h zone and swerving on the road.

The vehicle was stopped and the driver was subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a positive result.

Police conducted a search of the vehicle and located a large quantity of alcohol. The alcohol was seized as it was believed to be destined for an alcohol protected area.

The driver was arrested and conveyed to Pine Creek Police Station.

The woman was charged with:

  • drive a motor vehicle while unlicensed
  • drive high range blood alcohol content

She will appear in the local court at a later date.

Superintendent Kirk Pennuto said, "This is good work by our police members, who apprehended the vehicle that would have likely resulted in a serious crash".
