Police lay charges - Fatal crash - Girraween

Northern Territory Police have charged a 17-year-old male following a fatal crash at Girraween earlier this morning.

Major Crash and Crime Division detectives have collected evidence from two crime scenes and interviewed a number of passengers who were travelling in the vehicle at the time.

The 17-year-old driver has been charged with:

  • Hit and run causing death
  • Provisional driver with alcohol in blood

He has been bailed to appear before court on 10 October 2022.

Detective Senior Sergeant Brendan Lindner said: "A forensic toxicological analysis will be undertaken to determine the presence of illicit drugs."

Power Road has since been reopened to traffic.
