Police lay charges over brawl at sporting match at Glenwood

A man has been charged over his alleged role in a brawl at a sporting match in Sydney's north west yesterday.

Just before 11.30am (Sunday 25 August 2019), police will allege that a 19-year-old male player began to argue with another player at a sporting field on Meurants Lane, Glenwood.

The argument allegedly turned physical before more than 10 people became involved.

During the affray, the 19-year-old man allegedly punched a 28-year-old man in the head and knocked him to the ground. He was taken to Blacktown Hospital for treatment in a stable condition.

Officers from Quakers Hill Police Area Command were notified and attended the sporting field.

The 19-year-old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Riverstone Police Station, where he was charged with affray and common assault.

He was granted strict conditional bail and is due to appear at Blacktown Local Court on Monday 16 September 2019.

Investigations into the incident are continuing.
