A man will appear in court today charged over an alleged serious domestic violence-related assault in Sydney’s inner west.
About 12.30am on Friday 21 February 2020, a Range Rover 4WD, travelling south on the Princes Highway at Tempe, stopped after it mounted the kerb near Station Street.
Police will allege in court that the driver assaulted his passenger, a 48-year-old woman.
When the woman attempted to leave the vehicle, the man allegedly assaulted her again and forced her back inside the 4WD before the pair drove away.
Officers from Inner West Police Area Command were notified and commenced an investigation.
Following extensive inquiries and a media appeal, investigators arrested a 41-year-old man at a home in Bardwell Park just before 8pm yesterday (Monday 24 February 2020).
He was taken to Kogarah Police Station, where he was charged with two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV).
The man was refused bail to appear at Sutherland Local Court today (Tuesday 25 February 2020).
