Police lay charges over Maroubra shooting

A man and woman have been charged following an investigation into a shooting in Sydney's east earlier this week.

Emergency services were called to a unit on Marine Parade, Maroubra, about 9.15pm on Sunday (4 July 2021), after reports a man had been shot.

Officers from Eastern Beaches Police Area Command and NSW Ambulance paramedics treated a 37-year-old man, before he was taken to St Vincent's Hospital in a stable condition.

A crime scene was established, which was examined by specialist forensic police, and detectives commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, officers from the Tactical Operations Unit arrested two people during a vehicle stop on the Central Coast Highway, Kariong, just before 1.30pm yesterday (Thursday 8 July 2021).

A 27-year-old man and a 28-year-old woman were taken to Gosford Police Station, where the man was charged with discharge firearm intend cause grievous bodily harm (DV), and possess unauthorised firearm.

The woman was charged with discharge firearm intend cause grievous bodily harm (DV) - accessory after the fact.

They were both refused bail and will appear at Gosford Local Court today (Friday 9 July 2021).
