A man has been charged after a motorcyclist was hospitalised in a critical condition following a crash in the Southern Highlands yesterday.
About 4.10pm (Tuesday 27 April 2021), emergency services were called to the Hume Highway near Church Avenue at Alpine, near Mittagong, after reports a Volkswagen Golf station wagon and Honda motorcycle had collided
The rider, a 44-year-old man, was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Liverpool Hospital to undergo emergency surgery. He is expected to be transferred to Royal North Hospital and remains in a critical but stable condition.
The driver, a 45-year-old man, was uninjured and taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
Officers from The Hume Police District established a crime scene, which was examined by specialist police from the Crash Investigation Unit.
The driver was transferred to Southern Highlands Police Station where he was charged with dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, and negligent driving (occasions grievous bodily harm).
The Pheasants Nest man was granted conditional bail to appear at Moss Vale Local Court on Tuesday 18 May 2021.
