Three people have been charged with armed robbery, assault and firearms offences following police investigations into a firearms incident and alleged motor vehicle stealing at Old Beach on Monday morning.
A 27-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, both of Bridgewater, and a 27-year-old man from New Norfolk were arrested on Monday during police operations in the Old Beach, Bridgewater and Gagebrook areas.
The three were detained for court and are scheduled to appear in court today on charges including:
- Aggravated armed robbery
- Aggravated assault
- Recklessly discharge a firearm
- Possess a firearm when not the holder of a firearm licence of the appropriate category.
The woman and the New Norfolk man have also been charged with motor vehicle stealing.
A fourth person, an 18-year-old woman from Granton, has been charged as part of the investigation.
She was arrested on Monday and detained for court on charges including evade police, reckless driving and motor vehicle stealing.
The arrests come after a firearms incident at Old Beach about 7:35am on Monday when a shotgun was allegedly discharged, once, after an altercation over a motor vehicle.
The parties involved were known to each other and no one was wounded when the firearm - a shotgun - was fired.
