Police lay charges over property offences in Darwin area

Northern Territory Police have charged a youth in relation to a multitude of property offences around Darwin and Palmerston.

The 17-year-old female was arrested in Malak yesterday, for a number of property offences that had occurred between 21 and 31 March 2021.

A search of her person resulted in the recovery of stolen property and the seizure of drugs.

After being taken into custody the youth allegedly attempted to escape from police but was apprehended immediately.

Strike Force Trident members have charged her with:

  • 1 x Aggravated unlawful entry
  • 1 x Stealing
  • 16 x Obtain benefit by deception
  • 2 x Unlawfully possess property
  • 1 x Posses schedule 2 drug
  • 1 x Attempt escape lawful custody

The Youth was conveyed to Palmerston Watch House with bail yet to be determined.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Bland said, "It is incredibly disappointing to see one youth committing such a high number of offenses in such a short time frame, NT Police will continue to work tirelessly to ensure the safety of the community".
