Police lay charges over property offences in Darwin

Strike Force Trident officers have charged a 20-year-old male following two alleged incidents of property offending.

He unlawfully entered a residence in Gray where he stole alcohol around 8:00am on 9 June. Subsequent investigations identified the male as the person of interest.

A business at Coolalinga was unlawfully entered around 1:20am on 9 July. The male and an unknown offender entered the location by force prior to setting off an audible alarm and fleeing the scene in a vehicle. The incident was captured on CCTV.

The male was sighted by Strike Force Trident Officers on 11 July at a residence in Coconut Grove. Police commenced a foot chase through the suburb and the male was apprehended by waiting police officers a few streets over. He was arrested and taken to the watch house.

The 20-year-old has been charged with:

• Breach order suspending sentence

• Unlawful entry – dwelling

• Stealing

• Damage to property

• Unlawful entry – business

He appeared in Darwin Local Court today.
