Police lay charges - Serious assault - Palmerston

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 13-year-old male following a serious assault over the weekend.

Police allege that on Friday night, the youth boarded a bus in Palmerston with a group of friends and travelled to Casuarina. While in transit the youth allegedly attempted to steal from a 17-year-old youth. An altercation followed in which a 16-year-old youth was stabbed in the hand.

The victims and the alleged offender are not known to each other.

Police attended the Casuarina interchange and arrested a number of youths.

The 13-year-old was charged with:

  • Assault with intent to steal - cause harm
  • Aggravated assault

He was remanded to appear in court today.
