Police Lay Drug Trafficking Charge At Cairns

Officers from the Major and Organised Crime Squad (MOCS) Far Northern have travelled to Manly in New South Wales following the arrest of a 42-year-old man on 1 September.

It will be alleged the man was involved with trafficking cocaine in Cairns between 26 February and 10 April 2025.

He was arrested by New South Wales Police Force officers before he was extradited to Brisbane yesterday, 3 September.

The 42-year-old Manly man was charged with one count of trafficking in dangerous drugs.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today, 4 September.

Major and Organised Crime Squad Far Northern Officer in Charge Detective Senior Sergeant Brad Grace said anyone trafficking drugs in the Cairns area can expect to be investigated, tracked down and brought before the courts.

"There is no place in our community for these illicit substances, and we will continue to target offenders who traffic and supply them," Detective Senior Sergeant Grace said.

"We're grateful to NSW Police for their assistance and will continue to work with policing jurisdictions across Australia to disrupt these activities."
